"Here I am Lord, send me." — Isaiah 6:8
Historically, Bethany Church has been a generator of fundamental change, responding to the Christian call to be witness to pain and suffering wherever it may occur, to share the light of love. It is amazing how much a small group of committed people can accomplish! The founder of Gifford Hospital and Chandler Music Hall were Bethany members, as was the creator of the Clara Martin Center. Bethany was also central to the founding of the Randolph Food Area Shelf (RAFS) and the Randolph Ecumenical Emergency Council on Housing (REECH).
Mission is not a bureaucratic program. It is the fire lit by one person deeply committed to making change, or by a few who believe in the power of love.
Listed below are some of the programs and projects that have been embraced by Bethany members and friends of the church. As the United Church of Christ says, “God is still speaking”, and you may be one of the listeners! If you find a program in that fires you up, please contact the coordinator listed and get yourself involved. Your light was not meant to be kept under a bushel. Shine forth, and let us help you!
